Sneakerheads is created by Jay Longino, who served as co-producer and writer to the 2018 sports comedy Uncle Drew. Coming off of Netflix’s Project Power, Allen Maldonado stars as Devin, a family man trying to balance his responsibilities between his family and his love for sneakers. Accompanying Allen is Little America star Jearnest Corchado, as well as Andrew Bachelor, star in Netflix’s The Babysitter. Sneakerheads also features Yaani King Mondschein (Close Up), Aja Evans (NCIS), and Matthew Josten (Timeline).

Anyone wanting to know more about sneakerhead culture should seek out the 2015 documentary Sneakerheadz. An official selection from SXSW 2015, Sneakerheadz digs into the emotional attachment sneakerphiles have with specific models of shoes, how scarcity drives the collecting fever, and most relevantly for the new comedy, how much the dang things can cost. Forget the initial investment, which can be high enough; anyone in possession of a rare pair of kicks can put their kid through college and have enough left over to recarpet the entire house.
