We spent the past several months testing out the best summer gear to narrow it down to 22 of the best upgrades and favorites that we could find. This required simulating a road trip, testing ready-to-drink cocktails, checking out camping gear and more. We’ve gone hands-on with everything on this list to make sure it is worth buying. Here are our top picks for summer 2021. This is the gear we are using and the upgrades we recommend to our family and friends....

The latest survey from Ipsos and Reuters found that 21 percent of all U.S. adults felt health care was the “most important problem” facing the country today, compared to 18 percent who said the same of the economy. When the same poll was conducted between July 6 and July 7, 17 percent of voters said the general state of the economy was the most important problem, facing the U.S., while 16 percent felt health care was a more pressing issue....

It’s no secret that smoking during pregnancy harms fetuses. But a study in the current Archives of General Psychiatry suggests it may also foster violent crime. Armed with a 40-year-old survey of pregnant Danish women, researchers followed 4,200 male babies into adulthood. By the age of 34, men whose moms smoked a pack a day during the third trimester were twice as likely as others to have been arrested for a violent crime–and nearly that likely to be chronic criminals....

Excessive Heat Warnings have been issued in several major metro areas across the country, including in New York City, Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Kansas City, with “dangerously hot conditions” expected in some parts, the NWS warned. “Abnormally hot conditions” will remain across much of the U.S. mainland, including the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and mid-section of the country, through mid-week, the NWS said. Aubrie Geedey, from South Carolina, is currently expecting her second child, but she’s not let that stop her from hitting the gym.
